Discover Your Private Coastal Paradise at Davies Bay
Imagine having access to your own exclusive, horseshoe-shaped bay where the only footprints in the sand are yours and your loved ones’. Welcome to Davies Bay – a truly special collection of six beachfront properties set on a private 233-hectare working sheep and cattle farm, where generations of Kiwi families have created treasured holiday memories for decades.
Located just thirty kilometres north-east of Whangarei on the stunning Tutukaka-Whangarei Heads Pacific coast, Davies Bay offers something increasingly rare – genuine privacy and seclusion combined with direct beach access and that authentic rural New Zealand experience. This is where swimming in crystal-clear waters, diving, boating, and coastal walks become part of your daily rhythm, not just holiday activities.
Each of the six properties has its own unique character and charm. Perched on the grass overlooking Davies Bay itself, you’ll find Baywatch, Blue Bach, and Hideaway – three holiday homes that epitomise beachside living. Wake up to stunning water views, step straight onto the grass, and within moments you’re on your private beach exploring rock pools or taking a morning swim.
For those seeking something more secluded, Goldmine offers a pioneering-style cabin experience in its own private bay, complete with a sandy beach and the fascinating history of a genuine goldmine to explore. It’s the perfect romantic hideaway for couples wanting complete solitude.
Retreat takes the concept of coastal living to another level, offering a main house plus two beachside cabins tucked into their own rocky bay. The cabins provide intimate waterfront accommodation with direct access to excellent fishing around the rocks, while the main house sits separately above the bay entrance – ideal for extended families or groups wanting both togetherness and independence.
Finally, Sunset Hut offers something wonderfully simple – a one-room living space with separate kitchen and bathroom on a private peninsula overlooking the beautiful Taiharuru River. The river estuary laps at the bottom of your private lawn, and the popular McGregors Bay is just minutes away on foot. Guests here also enjoy access to Davies Bay itself.
What makes Davies Bay truly special is how it’s remained a treasured family destination through generations. Children who grew up playing on these beaches return years later with their own families, creating new memories in the same magical location. This is authentic Kiwi bach life at its finest – unpretentious, beautiful, and absolutely unforgettable.
Whether you book one property for an intimate escape or multiple homes for a family reunion or celebration, Davies Bay offers that rare combination of privacy, natural beauty, and genuine coastal living that’s becoming harder to find.
